2026 Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards

About the Call Full Details

The Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards annually celebrate the photobook’s significant role in photography’s narrative. Established in 2012, these awards recognize publishing excellence across three primary categories: First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photography Catalog of the Year.

This opportunity is open to photographers, artists, publishers, or authorized third parties worldwide. Eligibility requires books to have been produced and published between September 7, 2024, and September 5, 2025. Books printed before September 5, 2025, with an official publication date through December 31, 2025, are also eligible. Please note that books existing only in digital form are not eligible for entry.

Specific requirements for each category are as follows:

  • First PhotoBook: This category is for a photographer’s or artist’s inaugural book where the main content is photography. The book must be available for purchase or free distribution through various outlets. This includes self-published or limited-edition books, even if the artist has previously released works outside the mainstream trade, provided it is their first book published in the book trade.
  • PhotoBook of the Year: This award recognizes a significant photobook, authored by one or more photographers/artists or an editor, with photography as its main content. It must be published in an edition of at least one hundred copies.
  • Photography Catalog of the Year: This category focuses on exhibition catalogs or museum publications predominantly featuring photography. These catalogs can showcase one or multiple artists and should be available for purchase or distribution. While comprehensive research and writing are welcome, text-only publications are not eligible.

A distinguished jury reviews entries to select a shortlist of thirty-five books across all categories, which are then presented to a final jury at Paris Photo for the selection of winners.

First PhotoBook: $30 per project; PhotoBook of the Year: $60 for first project from a given publisher, $30 for each subsequent project from the same publisher; Photography Catalog of the Year: $60 for first project from a given publisher, $30 for each subsequent project from the same publisher.
