About the Call Full Details
The Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts invites emerging artists under the age of 40 to participate in its annual exhibition and competition dedicated to representational art. This call seeks creators who demonstrate an exceptional command of foundational skills while maintaining a unique personal creative instinct. While the Academy is rooted in classical and contemporary realism, representational works of all styles are welcome provided they show high technical aptitude.
Eligible entries must be 2-D works created in any non-digital medium, including oil, pastel, and other traditional materials; AI-generated work and giclée prints are strictly prohibited. Selected works will be featured in a month-long exhibition in Chicago, accompanied by an opening reception, artist talks, and live demonstrations designed to foster conversation and community engagement.
All applicants must reside in the United States and submit works that are framed, wired, and ready for installation. To ensure the integrity of the exhibition, submissions must be the artist’s own handiwork, though work completed under verbal mentorship is permitted. This is a premier opportunity for upcoming talent to showcase their skills in one of Chicago’s most historic art communities.
Entry Fees
$20 uncrating fee for works exceeding 30” x 24”.
