About the Call Full Details

The British Art Prize 2026, hosted by Artists & Illustrators, is a prominent international art competition designed to provide artists with substantial publicity and recognition for their work.

This call is open to everyone, including amateur, emerging, and professional artists. All styles, media, and techniques are welcome, specifically including paintings, drawings, textile, prints, or mixed media. Collaborative artworks may also be submitted.

Entrants must submit original works, ensuring they hold all rights. Giclée reproductions or copies generated in other media are not accepted. Each artwork, even if multi-piece, must not exceed 275cm x 275cm (including frame) and project no more than 50cm from the wall.

Entry Fees

£24 for the first artwork, £19 for any additional artwork.

The Prizes

Primary Award Value Prizes worth over £10,000. First Prize: £2,000 cash, solo exhibition at Panter and Hall’s Cecil Court Gallery, STAEDTLER art materials, six-page feature in Artists & Illustrators magazine, and exhibition at Oxo Gallery. Second Prize: £500 cash, £750 Derwent art materials, inclusion in British Art Prize winners’ special issue with a 10-page editorial, and exhibition at Oxo Gallery. Third Prize: £750 Royal Talens art materials, inclusion in British Art Prize winners’ special issue with a 10-page editorial, and exhibition at Oxo Gallery. The Raw Umber Studio Prize: £750 cash, inclusion in British Art Prize winners’ special issue with a 10-page editorial, and exhibition at Oxo Gallery. The Clairefontaine People’s Choice Award: £1,000 Clairefontaine products, exclusive six-page feature in Artists & Illustrators magazine, and exhibition at Oxo Gallery. All shortlisted artists will be included in an exhibition at OXO Gallery from October 21-25, 2026.
