About the Call Full Details

The Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) invites applications for its Funded Environmental Artist Residency. This month-long immersive program is designed for artists whose practice deeply engages with the environment, climate issues, and the natural world.

This residency provides a unique opportunity for creative inquiry into Nantucket’s distinctive ecological landscape, an island facing significant environmental changes, including erosion, rising seas, and shifting habitats.

Applicants must be emerging or established artists, 18 years or older, working in any medium (visual art, installation, mixed-media, performance, interdisciplinary, environmental art, etc.). Successful candidates will live and work on Nantucket for three weeks, dedicating their time to creating new work inspired by the island’s environment, engaging with the local community, and contributing to public discourse on climate and environmental stewardship.

The Prizes

Primary Award Value Selected artists will receive three weeks of housing at AAN’s Visual Arts Center, a private studio space, an artist stipend of $3000, and travel expenses of $500. The residency culminates in an exhibition at AAN’s Champion Gallery.
