About the Call Full Details
Beam Center invites designers worldwide to submit proposals for an ambitious, large-scale public artwork. This unique opportunity will see the winning design brought to life by a community of over 100 young people, aged 9-17, and staff at Beam Camp in Strafford, New Hampshire. The camp focuses on cultivating hands-on skills through innovative thinking, design, and problem-solving, with the selected project serving as the centerpiece for a four-week summer session.
Proposals are welcomed from individuals of any age and nationality. While AI tools may be useful, applicants are encouraged to use them sparingly, as the committee prioritizes hearing the story directly from human designers. Selected proposers should possess a strong understanding of the processes, techniques, and materials involved in their design. They must also be available for bi-weekly meetings approximately six months prior to the project’s completion to facilitate necessary development, prototyping, and problem-solving. Successful designers will be required to provide project plans according to a specified development schedule and are invited to join a portion of the camp session, with reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.
