The Michael Hartnett Annual Poetry Award celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary, offering a significant prize of €8,000 to an established poet. This year, the competition focuses on English-language works, continuing its tradition of alternating between Irish and English languages annually.
To be eligible, candidates must have published their third or subsequent volume of poetry within the two-year window of 2024 and 2025. The award is a collaborative effort funded by the Limerick Arts Office, Limerick City and County Council, and The Arts Council, designed to honor literary excellence and the legacy of Michael Hartnett.
The selected winner will be officially presented with the prize on the opening night of the Éigse Michael Hartnett Literary & Arts Festival in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. Interested applicants must submit their application forms and books before the June 12th deadline.
