About the Call Full Details
MacDowell awards approximately 300 Fellowships annually based solely on artistic excellence. The Spring/Summer 2027 season covers residencies between March 1 and August 31, 2027. The program provides a private studio and a community of high-level artists. Notably, MacDowell has suspended the requirement for reference letters to improve equity and access. Applicants are judged on their professional achievements, a project proposal, and a work sample.
Entry Fees
$30 USD (Non-refundable processing fee).
Financial hardship waivers are available upon request before the deadline.
The Prizes
A residency lasting up to 8 weeks including a private studio, living accommodations, and three meals a day. While the residency itself is a "fellowship" (no cost), artists can also apply for need-based stipends and travel reimbursement grants to cover lost income and travel costs.
