About the Call Full Details
The Buckham Fine Arts Project invites writers to submit to its second literary anthology, titled ‘This Thing Called Love.’ Juried by Kelsey Ronan, this collection seeks to move beyond traditional romantic tropes, exploring love as a living, breathing, and often volatile state of flux. Submissions should examine the mess and marvel of connection, treating love as a verb, a haunting, or a hard-won negotiation between individuals.
The call is open to writers worldwide who are at least 18 years of age. Potential themes include the anatomy of attraction, modern digital rituals, the quiet endurance of long-term partnerships, and unconventional perspectives such as platonic or queer romances. Selected works will be featured in a publication with a release event scheduled for May 2027 at the Buckham Gallery in Flint, Michigan.
Submissions must be original and produced without the assistance of artificial intelligence. The project aims to nurture community and challenge audiences to engage with contemporary literary art in new and meaningful ways.
